Pedestrian Killed in Greenfield Crash on Arroyo Seco Road near Thorne Road
Greenfield, California (March 17, 2020) – A 56-year-old Salinas woman was struck and killed by a vehicle on Tuesday morning in Greenfield, as per a police report.
Authorities were called at the scene of the crash at around 7:00 a.m. March 17, on Arroyo Seco Road north of Thorne Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a driver was traveling northbound on Arroyo Seco Road towards an area where three farm labor buses were offloading farmworkers on the southbound lanes.
The workers were crossing from the west to the east side of the road and the driver slowed down about 30 to 35 miles per hour as she passed the buses.
The woman walked between the two buses into the path of the car as the driver drove past the buses.
The woman was hit and seriously injured. Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The deceased was only identified as a 56-year-old Salinas woman.
The driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
