Corona, California (January 24, 2020) – The Riverside County Coroner’s Bureau has identified one of the four people who were killed when a single-engine airplane crashed Wednesday afternoon in Corona as Paula Mitchell, 61, of La Mirada.
The fatal plane crash took place at around 12:11 p.m. Wednesday, January 22 on the east side of Corona Municipal Airport.
Authorities said the pilot was attempting to take off from the single-runway, non-towered airport when for reasons still under investigation, the pilot lost control of the 836 Bonanza and crashed into a fence.
The plane then rolled over an embankment northeast of the airport and burst into flames.
Mitchell and three other people were killed in the crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are is investigating the accident.
