Nicholas Whittlesey Seriously Hurt in Nevada County Pedestrian Accident on Newtown Road and Highway 49
Nevada County, California (December 31, 2019) – 70-year-old Nicholas Whittlesey of Grass Valley has been identified as the pedestrian severely injured in a traffic collision Sunday evening in Nevada County, according to a local news source.
The major crash took place on Newtown Road and Highway 49 at around 6:20 p.m. Sunday, December 29.
As per the report, 52-year-old Jeffrey Scott Baumgartner was driving his GMC pickup on Highway 49 and was making a left turn on Newton Road when he struck Whittlesey for unknown reasons. Whittlesey was reportedly crossing from the Willo restaurant at the time.
Responding emergency crews transported Whittlesey to Sutter Roseville Medical Center where he was listed in a critical condition.
Officials said Baumgartner was driving at approximately 30-35 mph at the time of the collision. Authorities did not suspect alcohol or drugs to be factors in the collision.
No further information regarding this crash was provided.
