Man Killed, Paris Powell Arrested after San Francisco Hit-And-Run Crash Saturday Evening
San Francisco, California – The police told that the cause of the crash was a result of a police chase that started in the Mission Bay neighborhood.
Authorities have put this case under investigation as the hit and run accident killed one man on Saturday evening.
On August 15, at around 7:33 pm, Paris Powell, a 19-year-old teenager from San Francisco was driving a vehicle that linked to an armed robbery. However, when the officers tried to pull him over, he failed them.
It caused the police officers to pursue Powell but after some time, they lost the sight of his vehicle.
After a couple of minutes, at around 7:40 pm, the police officers received a report of a crash between a vehicle and minivan near Geneva Avenue and Prague Street intersection.
It is believed by the authorities that Powell was driving eastbound on Geneva Avenue when he collided with a minivan on Prague street.
The minivan was driven by a 63-year-old man, a resident of Bay point. He was declared dead at the crash scene.
However, two occupants of the minivan sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the San Francisco hospital.
The police said that following the crash, Powell ran on foot but was eventually caught. Four teenagers were along with Powell in his vehicle who was taken to a nearby hospital as they suffered from minor injuries.
Powell was hospitalized as he sustained injuries, however, he is booked on suspicion of homicide, reckless driving, child endangerment, evading a police officer and carrying a concealed firearm.
Two other teens were kept in official custody after the incident occurred.
This case is under investigation by the authorities.
