Man Killed in Highway 101 Crash in San Jose
Man Dies After Being Hit by 2 Vehicles on Highway 101 near Highway 880 in San Jose
San Jose, California (March 9, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a traffic accident that left one person dead Saturday morning and injured two others in San Jose.
On March 7, at around 5:40 a.m., officers responded to the scene of a deadly traffic accident on U.S. Highway 101, just north of Interstate Highway 880.
Authorities determined that a 1997 Acura, driven by a 23-year-old San Jose man, was heading northbound on Highway 101 when it crashed for undetermined reasons. As a result, the Acura became disabled in the far left lane of the highway.
The man then got out of the disabled vehicle and stood near it when a 2014 Dodge struck him. He was then struck a second time by a 2019 Chevrolet, which also hit a 1999 Lexus that was traveling on the highway.
The 23-year-old man was declared dead at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
The drivers of the Chevy and Lexus were transported to a hospital with minor injuries. The Dodge driver was not hurt.
Police closed several northbound lanes of Highway 101 for nearly three hours to investigate the crash and clear the scene.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
