32-year-old Vanessa Garcia-Barbarin Killed in Big Rig Crash on Tippecanoe Avenue and Orange Show Road in San Bernardino
San Bernardino, California (January 1, 2020) – Authorities has released the name of the woman killed in a traffic crash involving a big rig in San Bernardino on Monday night.
The fatal collision, which happened at about 11:20 p.m. December 30, occurred at the intersection of Tippecanoe Avenue and Orange Show Road.
Police said a Volkswagen sedan driven by 32-year-old Vanessa Garcia-Barbarin of San Bernardino collided with a Freightliner tractor-trailer driven by 52-year-old Sergio Medina also from San Bernardino after both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time.
Primary report showed that Garcia-Barbarin was traveling northbound on Tippecanoe Avenue toward the intersection with Orange Show Road. At the same time, Medina was moving westbound on Orange Show Road toward the intersection at the time of the collision.
Garcia-Barbarin was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Medina was not injured in the wreck.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
