Children Among 3 Injured in Ukiah Accident on Highway 20

Woman and Two Children Injured in Ukiah Rear-End Collision on Highway 20

Ukiah, California -Following the Ukiah rear-end collision that was caused by the driver who was eating a hamburger on Monday evening, one woman and two children sustained injuries according to the CHP.

On October 5, at around 5:55 pm, a 39-year-old Lucerne man was driving a 2002 Dodge Ram pickup truck eastbound on Highway 20 when he failed to notice the traffic stopped for an earlier accident near Pomo Way.

The Dodge slammed into the rear of the 2018 Kia Soul that was driven by a 33-year-old Redwood Valley woman.

The collision impact pushed the Kia into a Honda Accord in front of it and then moved into the westbound lane colliding further with a Ford Explorer. Meanwhile, the Honda collided with another vehicle following the impact with the Kia.

The Redwood Valley woman along with her 3-year-old and 6-year-old children in the vehicle sustained major injuries due to the crash.

The woman was rushed to Lake County hospital while the 3-year-old and older child were airlifted to Oakland Children’s Hospital and U.C. Davis respectively.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford Explorer and a 1-year-old kid in her vehicle were both taken to a nearby hospital as a precautionary measure.

No other injuries were reported.

The CHP stated that there was no role played by the alcohol and drugs in the collision.

This incident remains under investigation.
