Child Hospitalized after Victorville Bus Accident at Hesperia and Cherry Hill Roads
Victorville, California (March 2, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday afternoon school bus accident that left a child with injuries in Victorville.
A 2013 blue Toyota Corolla and Victorville Elementary School District bus collided at about 2:00 p.m., at the intersection of Hesperia and Cherry Hill roads.
Andrew Bryce Billingsley, 32, was driving the Toyota northbound on Hesperia Road when he ran a red light and collided with the school bus. The bus was heading west on Cherry Hill Road and was turning left onto Hesperia Road at the time.
Billingsley then struck a power pole and fled the scene, said the police.
Three children and the driver were on board the bus . One of the children was transported to a hospital for evaluation and treatment as a result of the accident.
Billingsley, who was found to be off his medication for schizophrenia, complained of pain due to the crash.
Billingsley was arrested for allegedly fleeing the scene and was booked for alleged hit-and-run and driving unlicensed.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
