Authorities Identify Boy Hit and Killed by Vehicle Tuesday morning on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in South Los Angeles as Abraham Trejo
Los Angeles, California (March 11, 2020) – Authorities have identified Abraham Trejo, 12, as the boy who died after being hit by a vehicle while crossing a street on the way to school Tuesday morning in South Los Angeles.
Officers responded to the 100 block of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, at around 7:30 a.m. on March 10 for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian, police said.
According to the authorities, a 43-year-old woman was driving an SUV and was turning left from Woodlawn Avenue onto Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard when she struck Trejo, who was crossing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard inside a marked crosswalk.
Paramedics responded to the scene and performed CPR on Trejo. Despite life-saving measures, Trejo did not survive his injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The SUV driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the police.
According to the local news report, Trejo was a student at Animo South Los Angeles Charter High School.
