Ali Fakhreddine Arrested after Deadly Costa Mesa Hit-And-Run Crash Sunday Morning

Costa Mesa, California – Following the deadly hit-and-run accident that left a woman and her dog killed on Mesa Drive and Irvine Avenue, the suspect identified as Ali Zohair Fakhreddine, 31 was arrested on Sunday.

The California Highway Patrol stated that a Newport Beach woman was walking her dog in a crosswalk in the intersection at around 6:53 am when suddenly both were hit by a vehicle that was heading south on Irvine Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle, Ali allegedly failed to stop at the red light and hit the pedestrian and her dog.

Both the victims died at the scene.

Ali fled the scene after hitting the pedestrian and the dog but was located with his 2014 Hyundai nearly after three hours.

Ali was arrested by the police on suspicion of driving under influence and hit-and-run.

The investigation is ongoing by the CHP.
