John Godoy Killed in Motorcycle Accident on 605 Freeway in Norwalk
John Godoy ID’d as Motorcyclist Killed in Norwalk Crash on 605 Freeway near Alondra Boulevard
Norwalk, California (May 14, 2020) – The motorcyclist who died in a traffic crash Wednesday morning in Norwalk has been identified as John Godoy, 62, of Santa Ana.
The deadly accident happened at around 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 13, on Interstate 605 Freeway, just north of Alondra Boulevard.
Authorities said a Toyota Prius collided with a Lexus sport-utility vehicle in the northbound lanes of the freeway for undetermined reasons.
Due to the impact, the Prius crashed into the center median and flipped onto its side. Both vehicles came to rest in the carpool lane of the freeway.
Shortly after, a motorcycle, driven by Godoy, slammed into the bottom of the overturned Prius. That impact caused the Prius to slide and struck the Lexus driver, who was standing outside their vehicle while assisting the driver of the Prius.
Godoy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Lexus sustained moderate injuries while the driver of the Prius complained of pain following the crash. Both women were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The carpool and Nos. 1, 2, 3, and 4 northbound lanes were closed down for an unknown time.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
“Far too many motorcycle collisions are caused by the carelessness or recklessness of other motorists. Sadly, when this occurs, motorcyclists are the ones who tend to suffer the vast majority of injuries”, according to Arin Khodaverdian, Managing Partner and CEO Alpine Law Group. Under California’s rule of comparative negligence, a victim may be able to collect compensation for injuries and other damages even if you were partly at fault for the accident.
Mr. Khodaverdian has worked for many years as a wrongful death and personal injury attorney. He and his team of attorneys has helped thousands of injury victims and their families recover over $100 million in compensation. “In one case, we recovered a 7-figure settlement within 11 business days of being hired by the family of a victim who was killed by a negligent driver.”
Swift action by an experienced attorney helps preserve evidence, interview witnesses, and begin to pursue those responsible for the incident.
