Boy Dies Following 2-Car Accident on Highway 20 in Sutter County
10-Year-Old Boy Killed in Sutter County DUI Crash on Highway 20 near South Tarke Road
Sutter County, California (April 21, 2020) – A 10-year-old boy was killed Sunday evening in an alleged DUI car crash in Sutter County, according to California Highway Patrol.
The CHP said a Ford Fusion was traveling eastbound on Highway 20 at around 6:30 p.m. April 19 when its driver lost control and crashed into a concrete wall on the westbound side near South Tarke Road.
A 59-year-old Sacramento man who was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup in the westbound lane, braked but was not able to avoid a collision. The truck struck the right rear end of the Ford sedan.
Both the truck and the sedan acquired major damage in the crash.
A passenger in the sedan, a 10-year-old boy from Colusa, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, that vehicle’s sole occupant, was not injured in the crash.
Kesterson, who was suspected of having been driving under the influence, had serious injuries including a broken spine.
Kesterson was arrested and booked Monday into the Sutter County jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter with gross neglect.
The accident remains under investigation.
