Pedestrian Killed After Getting Struck by Vehicle on Interstate 15 in Hesperia
Man Dies Following Hesperia Pedestrian Accident on Interstate 15 near Joshua Street
Hesperia, California (March 25, 2020) – A pedestrian died after being hit by a car early Tuesday morning as he was walking across the Interstate 15 Freeway in Hesperia, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The CHP Officers responded to northbound Interstate 15 Freeway, just north of Joshua Street, at around 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 24 for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.
Authorities determined that a 42-year-old man was driving northbound on the Interstate 15 Freeway when he pulled over his silver Dodge Intrepid in the center divider. He then exited the vehicle, climbed over a guardrail that separates the north and southbound traffic lanes.
The CHP said the man was attempting to walk across the southbound lane when he was hit by a 2008 Toyota Camry that was being driven by a 27-year-old Apple Valley woman in the number 2 lane, the CHP report states.
The man, whose name has not been disclosed pending family notification, was declared dead at the dead at the scene at about 4:11 a.m.
The Victorville California Highway Patrol asked anyone who witnessed the accident to call them at 760-241-1186.
A person on foot is no match for a large, multi-ton vehicle. Pedestrians have virtually no protection when they are hit by cars, motorcycles, trucks, and other vehicles. Sadly, this often leads to catastrophic injuries and/or death.
