Adolfo Corral, Mary Corral Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident in Goleta
Authorities Identify 2 Victims Killed in Goleta Pedestrian Accident on Cathedral Oaks Road Near Ellwood Ridge Road as Adolfo Corral and Mary Corral
Goleta, California (February 10, 2020) – Authorities have identified the two pedestrians who were killed Sunday evening in an alleged hit-and-run accident in western Goleta as Adolfo Corral and Mary Jane Becerra Corral, both 44, from Goleta
The fatal pedestrian accident happened at about 5:15 p.m. Sunday, February 9 on Cathedral Oaks Road, just east of Ellwood Ridge Road, to the west of Brandon Drive and less than a mile north of Calle Real.
According to the authorities, Eric Mauricio Ramirez Aguilar, 39, of Goleta, was driving a blue Nissan 370Z Roadster convertible westbound on Cathedral Oaks Road when, for an unknown reason, he struck Adolfo Corral and Mary Corral who were walking on the bike lane on the north side of Cathedral Oaks Road.
Adolfo Corral died at the scene. Mary Corral was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Aguilar did stop to render aid and fled the scene of the crash on foot. At around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, authorities located him riding in the passenger’s seat of a car.
The car was stopped, and Aguilar was arrested. The driver of that vehicle was determined to be uninvolved in the hit-and-run accident and was released at the crash site.
Aguilar was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
