Coroner Identify Man Killed in Head-On Crash in Palmdale
Oscar Portillo Killed in Palmdale Car Accident on 170th Street East near Avenue R
Palmdale, California (February 6, 2020) – Oscar Sanchez Portillo, 39, of Palmdale, has been identified as the man who died in a traffic accident that happened Saturday night in Palmdale.
The deadly crash took place at about 8:20 p.m. Saturday, February 1 on 170th Street East, just north of Avenue R.
Authorities said a 60-year-old Llano man was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 northbound on 170th Street when he allowed the vehicle to drift into the opposite lane and collided with head-on with a southbound 2007 Nissan Frontier driven by Portillo.
Portillo died at the scene. His passenger, a 29-year-old Palmdale woman, was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital with major injuries.
The driver of the Dodge Ram also sustained major injuries and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the crash.
