Terry Bessey Arrested After Hit-and-Run Accident on North Court Street near Riverside Drive in Redding
Redding, California (January 3, 2020) – A 15-year-old boy was struck and seriously hurt by an alleged hit-and-run motorist earlier this month in Redding.
The major-injury crash happened on North Court Street near Riverside Drive at about 3:02 p.m. Friday, December 13
Police said a blue Dodge pickup truck driven by 49-year-old Terry Bessey of Redding hit a teenage boy who was walking northbound on the sidewalk along North Court Street.
The initial report indicated that the teen was going home from school at the time of the collision
The pedestrian sustained major injuries in the crash. Emergency crews rushed the boy to a hospital for treatment of a broken leg and facial injuries.
Officials said Bessey fled eastbound on Riverside Drive after hitting the victim.
A witness called authorities at around 1:18 a.m. Monday, December 30, and reported that the suspect car and Bessey were in the area of Buenaventura Boulevard and Placer Street.
Bessey was taken to the Redding Police Department Investigations, and his vehicle was towed as evidence.
Meanwhile, Bessey was booked into Shasta County Jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run driving.
The investigation is still ongoing.
