23-Year-Old Man Dies Following Fatal Fresno Pedestrian Accident on Highway 168 and Ashlan Avenue
Fresno, California (December 15, 2019) – According to the California Highway Patrol, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Highway 168 in Fresno early Saturday morning.
The fatal crash was reported at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, December 14 in the area of Highway 168 and Ashlan Avenue.
According to the CHP, a 23-year-old man was walking in the westbound lanes of the freeway when for an unknown reason, he was hit by a blue Hyundai Elantra, which was traveling at around 60 miles per hour.
The man died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of family.
Authorities said the victim was wearing dark clothing, in the rain, with little to no lighting in the area when the accident happened.
The driver of the Elantra stopped at the scene.
It is still unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the accident. An investigation into the crash is underway.
