2 Women Severely Injured in Salinas Pedestrian Accident on Stone Street, Jose Garcia Arrested

Major Injury Salinas Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Stone Street 

Salinas, California (January 22, 2020) – According to the California Highway Patrol, an alleged hit-and-run pedestrian accident that took place in the area of Salinas last week on Monday morning resulted in severe injuries to at least two female parties.

The major-injury collision occurred at 22 Stone Street in front of the Sacred Heart Church at around 9:00 a.m. on January 13.

The accident involved a 68-year-old and 90-year-old women who were crossing Stone Street to get to St. Vincent De Paul food pantry located at the church and a silver Chevrolet Suburban driven by 63-year-old Jose Garcia northbound on the highway.

Garcia did not stop after the accident and drove off onto West Market Street.

Both pedestrians sustained severe injuries in the crash. The unidentified patients were taken to Natividad Medical Center by paramedics, along with emergency crews who responded at the scene shortly after the wreck.

Officials affirmed that the 68-year-old woman was later released from the hospital.

Police arrested Garcia on suspicion of driving without a license, hit-and-run causing injury, and a probation violation.

The cause of the accident remains under an active investigation.
