2 Injured in Vehicle Accident on Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore
Major Injuries in Lake Elsinore vehicle crash on Interstate 15 near Railroad Canyon Road and Diamond Drive
Lake Elsinore, California (February 21, 2020) – Major injuries were reported after vehicles collided on Friday, February 21, at around 11:00 a.m. on Northbound Interstate 15 near the Railroad Canyon Road and Diamond Drive in Lake Elsinore, as per a police report.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2017 Subaru was speeding on the freeway shoulder when the driver made an unsafe turn and crashed into the rear of 1999 Mercedes CKL 320. Both drivers lost control of their vehicles and rolled up an embankment.
The Mercedes landed right-side-up and smashed into a freeway sign pole. The driver of the Subaru was not wearing a seat belt was ejected through the sunroof.
Both drivers sustained major injuries in the wreck and were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The freeway was closed for more than an hour for cleanup and investigation.
No other details of the crash were immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
